• A few hours ago, Twitter laid off its entire Accessibility Experience team. This is sad not only because so many lost their jobs, but because so many more around the world may lose their voice. twitter.com/gerardkco…

  • Today, I’m looking at the accessibility of virtual machine options on Windows and Mac and am wondering what people are using? VMWare Fusion used to work great, does it still? What about VirtualBox? And what’s this Docker thing everyone’s talking about?

  • Well heck, I’m sold! “This account will allow you to access easy-to-understand information about your DNA, including information about your ancestry and non-medical traits (such as how you process caffeine and what type of ear wax you have). “

  • It is impossible for me to browse my Twitter home timeline without coming away feeling thoroughly depressed. I know many who feel the same and yet, Twitter remains so popular. Why? I miss the old days of conversation, interacting, and learning.

  • Not that I’m thinking of switching jobs, but I’m curious: how does one apply for a fed sector job requiring TS/SCI clearance – how can one actually get that unless already in government or military?

  • Well, my saga continues and it would appear that some of my other accounts have been hacked. And someone helped themselves to a night’s stay at @hilton using my points and of course calling them, I’m presumed guilty and not innocent. What a mess. :(

  • Ugg, it would seem that some spam thing has gotten ahold of my Email address and is trying to subscribe me to all kinds of everything. Hoping the flood of mail will stop soon if only so I can start deleting some of this. :( :(

  • There are so many steps in sending or receiving bank wires, especially with intermediary banks, I wonder how the process actually works? How much is automated and how much requires human intervention?

  • I was looking up a food in my food tracking app and came across the following. Um, would someone really eat this?

Baked Bean Pasta Salad Cheese Sour Cream Sandwich. - 746 cals per Serving,

  • I love it when people send me Emails which are already flagged. I wonder how they’d react if I set up an auto-reply letting them know their Email is probably not as important as they think it is. :)

  • I just got my first ever Credly badge. I admit I’ve never heard of Credly before, but a shiny new badge is always a cool thing. :) www.credly.com/badges/b9…

  • Why does every app lately seem obsessed with implementing a visual dashboard with graphs and charts and things which nobody asked for ever? I’m all for #datavis, but why not make it available on-demand rather than forcing everyone to wait for, and be confronted by graphical charts every time the app is opened?

  • Joan Jett, Poison, Motley Crue, and Def Leppard all in one show? Yes, this is awesome.

  • The most disappointing hotel experience I’ve had in a long time.

  • I’ve had many interesting airport experiences, but TSA losing my cane, my non-foldable 5 FT +cane, is a first. It was eventually found.

  • Fun fact: If you get bottled water delivery and happen to live in a very cold climate … and you forget about said delivery … it will freeze. It will freeze very solid. In related news, I am now the proud owner of 25 gallons of solid ice. :(

  • The current temperature is -18.4°F (-28°C), but it feels like -38.2°F (-39°C).

  • I really love Apple Watch competitions, I find them motivating even when I’m losing. That said, I really wish Apple would remove the “other” category, it’s not transparent and it’s like competing against an unknown. What do others think?

  • Pairing socks together takes way too much time, so I thought I’d be clever and safety pin them together. I was excited to do laundry today thinking of all the time I’d save. Now I’m finding safety pins everywhere, just not in my socks. So much for that clever idea.

  • Just gasing up before the long trip home through the snow.

  • Can’t believe Gabby is old enough to be doing the college tour thing, but here we are.

  • Over the years, I’ve made various contributions to the field of accessibility, some bigger than others. When applying for something at work today, I realize how much of that isn’t documented and I learned what’s not documented doesn’t count. This is sad-making for me on many levels.

  • I just ate a fortune cookie and my fortune said, “Hallelujah!” That’s it. What kind of fortune is … I mean, I don’t even know what to do with that. I am officially vexed by a fortune cookie. :)

  • Let’s talk iOS podcast clients for a minute. I’ve been using Overcast for years and really like it, but I’m hearing more and more about other options like Castro and even Apple’s own Podcast client. What are your favorites and why?

  • I went to the dentist today, got my first ever filling. “You did a great job”, she said. “Do I get a reward”, I asked? “If you were a child”, she said, “you would get an action figure.” Let me tell you, age discrimination is alive and well. lol.
